The Suryanar Kovil is a Hindu temple in Tamil Nadu, South India. It is located in the village of Suryanarkoil in the Thanjavur district. It is a very famous Surya Sthalam and is considered one of the Navagraha temples. The Suryanar Kovil faces west. The presiding deity here is Suryanarayana in a chariot like vimaanam, representing the sun’s chariot. There are also shrines to Kasi Viswanathar, Visalakshi and Brihaspati (Guru) in the sanctum. Shrines to the other celestial bodies are located outside of the sanctum. This is the second significant temple of navagrahangal situated at thingaloor near thiruvayaru of tanjore district., The chandra bagavan temple is inpregenated in arul migu Kailasanadhar swamy temple and situated 33kms away from kumbakonam

The presiding deities of temple are Lord Shiva as Agneeswarar and Goddess Parvathi as Karpagambal. Kanjanur is one of the nine Navagraha sthalas located in the Cauvery Delta region dedicated to planet Venus, called Sukran. Unlike other Navagraha temples, the main deity, Agneeswarar in the form of lingam depicts Lord Sukran. This temple is Raghu Bhaghavan’s parikara sthalam. Raghu is one of the Snakes in the 9 celestial bodies as per Hindu mythology.  During Raghu Kalam the milk offering (Abhishekam) is performed on the god. The milk turns blue when it touches the body of the snake god representing the poison and it turns back to white when the milk touches the floor. This incident is watched and worshiped by devotees every day.

Alangudi is the holy abode of Jupiter and a divine place where one could propitiate Jupiter. Lord Shiva is manifested here in the form of Lord Guru. Sri Dakshinamurthy is to be worshipped as he is worshipped, as Guru Bhagwan here. Alangudi is renowned for its ‘triglories’ i.e Moorthy (The Presiding Deity), Sthalam (Place of divinity) and Theertham (The Holy Water).

Vaitheeswaran Koil or Pullirukkuvelur is a Hindutemple dedicated to the Lord Shiva, located in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. ... It is one of the nine Navagraha (nine planets) temples and is associated with the planet Mars (Angaraka). The village is also known for palm leaf astrology called Naadi astrology in Tamil.

According to history, Keezhperumpallam was famous as Vanagiri. Kethu and Rahu, popular as ‘Chaaya Grahangal’, associate with the legend of the churning of the milky ocean. When Devas and Asuras churned the ocean of milk with Manthira Mountain as churning stick and snake Vasuki as the rope, the amirtham emerged.

Thiruvenkadu, one of the navagraha sthalams, is the Budhan sthalam dedicated to Planet Mercury. Thiruvenkadu’s Sanskrit name is Shwetaranya and both literally mean – sacred white forest. This is also called Adhi Chidambaram and the Chidambara Rahasyam is also here. As seen in Chidambaram, Vishnu is near Nataraja. Special worship services are offered to Natarajar and the associated Spatikalingam, as in Chidambaram.Saneeswaran was born to Saya Devi and Surya Deva. Later when Surya Deva came to know this, he got angry with Usha and he didn’t accept Saneeswaran as part of his family. Saneeswaran went to Kasi (Varanasi), worshipped the Lord Viswanathar (Shiva) and become part of one of the Navagrahas.
